Dr. David & Pamela Curnel

Washington State Directors

Hello I am Pamela Curnel and this is my husband Dr. David Curnel. We are the state directors for the Mrs. Washington America Pageant preliminary to the nationally televised Mrs. America and Mrs. World competitions.  David after fourteen years of helping me with this huge pageant production and now a television production, has decided this year to become co-director with me. He enjoys putting together props, running errands, proofing scripts and doing just about everything. I am very excited to have him by my side as we celebrate fifteen years directing in 2008.

Mrs. America 2007 culminates as a primetime network television event on WE Women's Entertainment channel broadcast from the spectacular Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in lovely Tucson, Arizona. Mrs. America is the country's premier pageant system for married women.

At the age of 41, I decided to enter a pageant for married women and won!  It was a dream come true.  Achieving my dream has inspired me to empower other married women to never give up on their dreams at any age.  I was offered the state directorship the same year that I won and decided to seize the opportunity to mentor my fellow married women in the state.

I have produced the state pageant for 15 years now and was honored to receive the Seymour Seitz National Director's Award in 2001 in Honolulu, Hawaii.   This is my fourth year producing a state pageant that is televised througout Washington State.

We are showcasing the accomplishments of today's married women and how we can "make a difference" in our communities and our nation.

Each year the new Mrs. Washington must bring a state costume that best represents Washington State for the Mrs. America competition. I design and make the state costumes for nationals. The 2004 state costume represented the city of Seattle and won the National Costume Award which Mrs. Washington 2004 won a $1,000 cash prize.  The 2006 state costume made top 10. which represented the Seattle Seahawks who made Super Bowl 40.

We all have a passion for something. My biggest passion is teaching dance.  I built and operated my own dance studio, "Pamela's Dance and Performing 'Arts," in Rochester, WA that included ballet, tap, jazz, modern dance, piano, voice and gymnastics.  I studied dance at Central Washington University and performed for five years with the Chehalis Ballet Company under the direction of renowned choreographer Dean Speer. I continue to choreograph musicals and dance pieces. I enjoy challenging myself daily. At the age of 50 I was in a broadway musical rendition of "Chicago" as a dancer. Your dreams and goals can come true at any age.  If you believe it, dream it, then you can achieve it.

Compete in the pageant because you want to:  make a difference in your community, mentor children, learn how to speak on a platform of your choice, to lose weight, meet new friends, for self-discovery or simply because you DESERVE IT!

Don't wait.  Get that application in the mail today. Get ready to be treated royally!

God Bless you and your families,

Pamela Curnel
