NO TALENT or Preliminary Pageant!

The winner will have an all expense paid trip to the Mrs. America Pageant and will be seen on national television from Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona. Mrs. Washington contestants must be at least 18 years of age. Contestants of all ages compete each year for the state title, and no one has dominated over the years. Contestants have been in their 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. Go to the Hall of Fame page and see former queens and their ages when they won.

You must be presently married and a resident of Washington State for at least six months. Contestants must be a citizen of the United States. Military or dual residency is acceptable. You can be divorced as long as you have remarried. You may or may not have children. Entrant must be married as of the date of entry and throughout the competition.

City Titles are being assigned now!

Send in a $100 deposit to secure your city title. Titles are on a first come first serve basis. If your city or county title is taken we will assign you a new one. The $100 will be deducted from the $700 entrance fee leaving a $600 balance. To receive a complimentary crown, sash, personalized business cards and return labels, a 50% deposit is required ($350) which includes the $100 deposit. You can pay in full anytime.

DEADLINE: May 1st 2009 for all paperwork, entrance fee and program book ads.

Four simple steps to get started:

  1. Read the rules and regulations.
  2. Download application, fill out, and sign.
  3. Provide a snapshot photo for office files and web site.
  4. Enclose an Entrance Fee deposit of $100 by check, money order or Paypal.

Please send the following before the pageant.

  • A copy of your marriage certificate/license
  • A copy of your Birth certificate
  • 6 copies of Bio/Resume
  • Signed Application
  • Program Book Ads optional
  • Program Book Head Shot 3"X3" Black and White (at least 300 dpi)
  • 8X10 Color Head Shot to display in the Lobby of the Theater-No crown/sash(can be the same as the 3"X 3" head shot)
  • Cocktail Dress (color to be announced)

Note: Once you've been awarded your city title we will help you get those sponsors or you may sponsor yourself with the help of family and friends.  Contestants have been very successful in getting sponsor money to help pay for the entrance fee, wardrobe, program book ads and much much more.  We are here to help you get those sponsors. Remember, once you have paid half the entrance fee ($350), you will receive a complimentary official city crown, sash and queen pin for the sash.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact the State Director, Pamela Curnel 509.766.7744

How do I get sponsors?

Start by making a list of all your family members, friends, associates, beauty salons, gas stations, doctor's offices, department stores, grocery stores, etc. Then start making phone calls for an appointment. Introduce yourself as being selected to represent the community in the Mrs. Washington Pageant. You can draft a letter and send to potential sponsors. Give potential sponsors a choice of donating $20, $25, $30, $50, $100, $200, etc. These are only suggestions to help you get those sponsors.

FREE WORKSHOPS

Entrance fee also pays for free workshops to help you prepare for the state pageant. We will help you with getting the appropriate wardrobe, make-up for interview and stage, hair, and walking. Workshops are not mandatory except the month before the pageant which is in May 2007.  We can also lend you a wardrobe at no charge.

Competition Categories:

Interview           50%    (one-on-one with five judges-4 minutes with each judge. Fun and relaxing!)

Swimsuit           25%     (one piece, any color or style with sarong)

Evening Gown    25%     (any style or color)

Competition Wardrobe

  1. Long Evening Gown (any color/style) Husband must wear a black & white tuxedo or Military uniform
  2. One-piece swimsuit with sarong (any color)
  3. Interview Suit (pant or skirt & jacket any color or style)
  4. Opening Production Number cocktail dress

You are free to withdraw from the competition at any time, but under no circumstances will you or a sponsor be entitled to any money that has been paid to this office in full or in part. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable.

About the State Director

Pamela Curnel held the title of Mrs. Washington America 1993 and became the State Director the same year. She is now in her sixtenth year directing the state pageant. Pamela received the National Director's Award in Honolulu, Hawaii and designed and made a state costume that won the National Costume Award where Mrs. Washington received a $1,000.00 cash award.

Director's Note

You will have a great experience and meet new friends that will last a lifetime. You will share concerns on marriage, family issues, and community service. You can do it for the excitement, self-confidence, mentor children, the incentive to loose weight, or to learn more about yourself. Whatever the reason for entering, do it because you DESERVE IT! You will be treated royally from the start to finish. Pamela has been producing entertainment shows for 25 years and is now in her fifteenth year producing the most exciting and prestigious televised state pageant for married women. To insure your success in the competition, we will be holding monthly workshops throughout the state at no charge starting in October. We are here to help you learn and grow from this once in a life time experience. 

This is the first Mrs. Pageant for married women that began in 1938 and the only Mrs. Pageant that is nationally televised. Watch Mrs. America the first two weeks in October on WE TV from the Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona.

Community Recognition

You will be recognized in your community for your community service, outstanding wife, homemaker, business woman, student, and sometimes a mother. You community will support you all the way.

Filming Contestants making a difference

We will be filming you in your commumity making a difference which will be seen on television all over Washington State.

Contestant Appearances - How much time is involved?

All contestants may or may not make public appearances with their new city titles before the state competition. We know how busy moms and working wives are, so appearances are entirely up to the contestant before the pageant.  The winner must however, attend the Mrs. America Pageant in September of 2008 for two weeks, all expenses paid and make scheduled appearances throughout Washington State. We will work around your schedule.
